It’s only a thimbleful of a voice, and I have to use it close to the microphone. But it is a kind of oversmoked voice, and it automatically sounds intimate- Julie London, Life Magazine,1957.
Another departure from the bossa genre, but a record which is often referred to as having influenced the style. Julie Is Her Name was the first LP by Julie London, released in December, 1955. The album, one of the coolest, most laid back recordings you will ever hear featured Barney Kessel on guitar and Ray Leatherwood on bass.
Sometimes less is more, and the sparse style enhances the mood of the songs.
This is dedicated to the beautiful Mrs. Kartoshka- thanks for a lovely vacation…
